What's in the El Dorado Conference Center?

Updated: Aug 22

I'm so glad you asked! Many people don't know a lot about the El Dorado Conference Center, other than it's a beautiful and relatively new building where people can hold events. This is true, but the conference center serves a greater purpose than just being an event space.

The mission of the El Dorado Conference Center is to serve and support the economic development of El Dorado and Union County through unmatched hospitality to our educational, community, and business partners.

What does that mean? It means we aim to support and promote El Dorado through our relationships with educational, community, and business stakeholders, which is pretty much everyone! While it's important to share our mission, it doesn't offer much to explain what is in the building, so here we go:

FIRST FLOOR

Banquet Halls

The banquet halls include Murphy I, II, and III which can all combine to be one space, Murphy Hall, which is where most of our large events are held.

Breakout Rooms

Breakout rooms are another type of event space in the conference center. They are usually utilized for smaller events or meetings. We have five of them, but they can also be opened up and combined to accommodate groups of different sizes. Fun fact: the breakout rooms are named after different types of trees -- Cypress, Oak, Loblolly, Hickory, and Maple -- as a nod to the forestry industry in El Dorado.

Boomtown Bistro

The Boomtown Bistro is our very own cafe featuring breakfast items, daily specials, pizza, salads, and specialty coffee drinks. If you're on campus or just craving something different, stop by and see us! Visit the Boomtown Bistro page on our website for more information.

South Arkansas Community College Bookstore

The SouthArk bookstore is a one-stop shop for all things SouthArk. From textbooks, to school supplies, to apparel, they've got you covered! You can find more information on the SouthArk bookstore here.

Gallery Space

Each corridor of the first floor of the conference center contains gallery space. The corridor along Murphy Hall features pieces from the South Arkansas Arts Center's permanent art collection. The corridor between the bookstore and the breakout rooms features display cases containing different memorabilia related to South Arkansas and prints of this region's rich history. We are planning big things for our gallery space, so be sure to check out the exhibits in the coming months!

SECOND FLOOR

The El Dorado Conference Center Office

The conference center office is where you can find staff ready to help you book and plan your event. Sometimes, we get a little busy and find ourselves running around the building to assist with various events; it's best to give us a call before you stop by so we can make sure we are in the office at the time of your visit. Our phone number is 870-864-8447.

South Arkansas Community College Student Services

Student Services is here to help any and all SouthArk students or prospective students. They offer a variety of resources to promote student success. For more information on SouthArk student services, click here.

South Arkansas Community College Testing Center

The SouthArk testing center is located in room 220 of the conference center. The testing center offers a variety of tests for students and community members. To find out more about the testing center, visit their webpage here.

Common Spaces

At each end of the second floor, visitors can find common spaces furnished with modular seating. This space is perfect for lounging with classmates or relaxing during a break between conference sessions.

We hope you'll come by and check out our space sometime!
